Where am I?
Welcome to Indiana Blogs! Hopefully, this page will provide you with some background and details about this site.
What's this all about?
Well, I have two main goals. The short term goal is to aggregate links to as many Indiana blogs as I can find. The blogroll contains as many blogs that I could find and identify as Indiana-based.* Listed sites that notify weblogs.com about new posts will display "updated" next to their link for 12 hours from the time of the ping. Any information listed in the description (visible when you mouse over the link) came from a listing somewhere (see options below) or the blog itself. If either the info is outdated, you are not listed and would like to be, or are and would like to be removed, please email me: greg [at] lishost dot com. Similarly, if you do not live in Indiana anymore or perhaps you know other bloggers who do, drop me a line.

So where did you find my blog?

Probably in one of the following places:

Less likely, but still possible:

You said there were two goals.
Right you are. The long term goal is to give Indiana bloggers the opportunity to have a collective resource/archive for our common enjoyment. To do this, I'm hoping to turn this into an instantly updated repository for posts by Indiana bloggers. It should function something like Blogroots Blogpopuli, which aggregates blog posts about blogging for convenient browsing, but instead the common thread will be Indiana authorship. Nifty, no?

All Indiana bloggers (regardless of your blog's focus) are encouraged to ping this site when posting to their own blogs. I've created a brief tutorial on the two or three ways to do this. If you already ping weblogs.com or blo.gs whenever you update, then you will be familiar with the process.

Where'd the idea come from?
This site was inspired primarily by ORBlogs, an Oregon blogging collective, with the goal of providing something similar for us Hoosiers. However, I continue to draw ideas from a variety of geographic directories. The TrackBack-centered implementation is courtesy of the aforementioned Blogroots Blogpopuli.
What's making it all possible?
The site itself is powered by Movable Type and hosted by LISHost.com. The blogroll is courtesy of Blogrolling. And of course, my obsessiveness brings it all together.
So who are you?
My name's Greg Schwartz, resident of Madison, Indiana. I not only run this site, but also two other blogs: Open Stacks and Planet Neutral. I recently completed my MSLIS at the U. of Illinois and am seeking employment as a librarian. I am engaged to be married on August 30.
Why am you doing all this?
As a librarian, I take interest in this sort of community-oriented collection development and collocation of resources.
What's in store?
I hope to add some other Hoosiercentric resources in the future. There are some really sweet elements on some of the other directories, but I lack the programming know-how to implement them. Take a look at the subway map on nycbloggers for an idea of what I'm talking about. Recognize though that this is a work in progress with many changes to come. If you have suggestions or would like to contribute in some small way (programming skills, donations, etc.), e-mail me at greg [at] lishost dot com. Otherwise enjoy and let me know what you think.

* Disclaimer: All decisions for inclusion are ultimately mine. I look at every blog under consideration. I make no content-based distinctions and, in search of diversity, always seek to include. However, if you have so many things loading or so many images that I can't move around your site or distinguish the blog content, this is immediate grounds for exclusion. I also prefer to find proof of Indiananess, but if you went through the effort to list yourself as Indiana-based somewhere, that's usually sufficient, unless I find evidence to the contrary.
